My Very First Blog

Hi everyone! I am back!!

Firstly, Happy New Year 2016 to all my readers! Thank you for visiting my blog again after the unfortunate incident that started in November last year.

In case you did not know what happened to my blog and why I did not blog for more than a month, well, here's the story. Back in November 2015, I noticed that whenever I visited my own blog, a window would open and an ad about keeping my laptop safe appeared. As soon as I click the window close, it would automatically opened a new tab on my laptop and the ad would appear again on the separate tab.

At first, I did not think too much of it and simply just closed that tab. But when it kept happening every single time I visited my blog, I knew something was wrong. But I was simply too busy to care at that time.

Then in early December, right after I posted a new blog post, readers told me that they could no longer access my blog because all they saw on the screen was this!



Strangely, I could not see this red warning sign using my Safari browser on my Macbook. Neither did I see it via my mobile phone. So I could still read my own blog. But when I tried visiting my blog via Google Chrome browser, the red alert appeared. I was shocked.

I was advised to remove all widgets and ads, which I did. I took out Bidvertiser (which I suspected was the main source of my problem), and most of the widgets I deemed unsafe. But roughly three weeks after I did that, I checked and the red warning sign remained. I was frustrated! What else should I do?

I thought of getting help from experts out there although I knew it would not be cheap. I found Sucuri  but the amount I got to pay them (US$199.92 per year) was too expensive considering that my blog is not really a money-making type of blog. It would not be worth paying that much, unless the income I derive from my blog is in the thousands!



I almost gave up and was even thinking of starting a second blog when the day after the New Year (i.e. Jan 2nd, 2016) I visited my blog one more time via Google Chrome browser and got a huge surprise! There was no more red alert warning! I could not believe my eyes!

I quickly texted a few friends and asked other bloggers to check if my blog was indeed cleared from virus and malware. The responses were in the affirmative. I was ecstatic. What great news! What an awesome New Year gift for me!

Thank you Google, even though it took you a month to remove me from the "Blacklisted" list.



A few days after that, traffic returned to my blog and there was in fact, a spike in traffic from Google.com. But of course, I did not read too much into that since the spike was from zero traffic. LOL! So yeah, I am back, everyone!! Happy New Year 2016! :)

1. The haze is back!! HELP!!! I am suffocating right now with the stuffy and smoky air. Where is the rain when we need it? 

2. I find it harder and harder to blog hop nowadays. There are simply too many distractions. After reading one blog post, I started to check out my Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, and even what's showing on Astro before hopping to another blog. Total failure!

3. What's the big deal about iOS7? Not really a big deal to me. Cos I am only having iPhone 3GS. Time for an upgrade perhaps?

4. Finally, Superman no longer wears underwear! Hahaha!!

5. Congratulations to Malaysian author Tan Twan Eng for winning the Walter Scott Prize for his historical novel The Garden Of Evening Mists. Have you read this book?

6. Talking about books, have you read Amy Chua's Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother? That's such a good enjoyable read of a book and I highly recommend it if you want to know how a modern Chinese American mother brought up her two daughters.

7. I noticed a lot of new burger outlets springing up in Klang Valley and elsewhere in Malaysia. Do we really need so many burger joints?

8. How much on average do you spend on food everyday? Is food your biggest expenses every month?

When Witch invited me to dinner on a Monday evening, I had suspected something was amiss. My suspicion was confirmed that evening - it was a birthday dinner for both me and Caroline.

Both Caroline and I share the same birth day and month, which is December 1st. But while it had been a complete surprise for Caroline, I was not that easily fooled! Which is quite a pity, cos surprises are always good, especially if it's a pleasant surprise.

We had dinner at this restaurant, bistro and bar called Mezze located in Medan Damansara, KL. It was our first time there, so I did not know what to expect.

These were the dishes we ordered. (Sorry for the low quality photos as I did not bring my camera along - I had to depend on my iPhone 3Gs).

Spaghetti Carbonara



This dish looked rather unique with the raw egg yolk served in a shell. The taste was not bad, but after mixing the egg yolk with the pasta, it was a bit too creamy for my liking.

Olio Bacon



This pasta with bits and pieces of bacon was delicious! I would definitely recommend this dish!

Funghi au Truffle Pizza



This pizza with thin and light crust was yummy. With mushrooms, tomatoes, oregano, rocket leaves, truffle oil and layers of cheese on top, it was really quite delicious!

Salmon Pizza



I love salmon so this pizza is a favourite of mine! Thin and crispy crust with slices of smoked salmon on top, it was love at first bite! I thought the rocket leaves somehow matched the salmon very well!

Chargrilled Spatchcock Chicken



I have only one complaint about this dish - the chicken was way too small! It was hardly enough for one person, what more for all of us! (there were six of us there). Other than the size, everything else about this spring chicken was delightful! The meat was tender and juicy - it must have been very well marinated. I wish I could have the whole chicken to myself!

I was craving for some desserts, but both Caroline and I knew that there would be a birthday cake for us. And true enough, we were presented with a Cherry Cheesecake bought from Caffe Cino, PJ Hilton.



I guess Witch was a bit disappointed that both Caroline and I did not at least pretend to be surprised haha! So after the birthday song was sung and we both blew the candles, the cake was cut and I got to taste a slice of my birthday cake! Thank you for the delicious cake!

Mezze was a good place to dine and we had a great time. The only issue we had with the place was the smoky environment. Obviously they did not have non-smokers in mind! That's a real pity because the food were really quite good!

Today is Dec 1st which happens to be my birthday! So Happy Birthday to me! Haha!

I don't usually celebrate birthdays. But last night, I had a birthday dinner with my group of blogger and twitter friends at Pasta Zanmai in Mid Valley Megamall.

It's only my third time at this restaurant and I think I really like the food here. Well, at least it's much better than Sushi Zanmai. I really don't get what's up with the long queues at Sushi Zanmai!

I had the Mini Tempura Prawn Sesame Pasta and Unagi on Rice served with Miso Soup.



Ooh!! I just love the unagi meat! I am now dreaming of eating unlimited unagis at Japanese buffets. Yum! The egg on the rice added to the enjoyment of this yummy meal!



The tempura prawns were nice! And the pasta was pandalicious (read delicious) with its sourish sauce. How clever of Pasta Zanmai to fuse Japanese food with Italian pasta!



Oh by the way, you can also order unagi with pasta instead of rice - taste just as marvellous!

Both Erika and Grey ordered the same set as mine.

Witch ordered the Unagi Kabayaki set.



The unagi with kabayaki sauce looks damn delicious! I will surely enjoy eating them!



Eric ordered the Mini Shortneck Clam Soup Pasta and the Mini Grilled Chicken Cutlet on Rice. But I forgot to take picture of the grilled chicken!

Oh well, here's his clam soup pasta.



I have never tried this clam soup pasta before and I had also forgotten to ask him if it's nice! So Eric, is it nice? : D

Saucer ordered the Sizzling Grilled Spring Chicken with Mushroom Sauce.



I tasted a little bit of the chicken and it was not bad.

We also ordered Turkey Ham and Japanese Mushroom Pizza for all to share.



But the pizza was not really that good to me. Suffice to say I have eaten better pizzas. However, this pizza was recommended by the waitress so I must now remind myself not to order items that are recommended to us in future!

Lastly, we also tried these Assorted Mini Canapés. They were supposed to be appetizers, but I ate them last. Haha!!



Didn't quite like them but they look cute, don't they?



It's always nice to be the birthday boy cos I can eat for free! Haha! Come to think of it, I should have exploited it further by ordering some expensive fancy drinks and eating some desserts as well!

But I decided not to cos my friends could do the same thing to me when it's their turn to be the birthday boy or girl! Or worse, they would not want to celebrate my birthday ever again! So better not be too greedy. Haha!

Anyway, thanks to my good blogger and twitter friends for celebrating my birthday! I really appreciate it! Love you guys!! : D

Now let me ask you a quick IQ question : Who among the five here is abnormal? Haha!!

Do you know that being a blogger has its perks? One of them is receiving gifts, presents, prizes and souvenirs from fellow bloggers! And that's exactly what I got for the past few months!

First, there was that nice little postcard from Ayie in the USA.



It's a greeting from her baby Jariel at 3 and a half months! Look how cute he is!! Oh no!! He called me Uncle!! That sounds so old!! Call me Brother next time, yes? Haha! Thanks Ayie for this wonderful souvenir! Please send me another one soon : )

Next, my good blogger friend Merryn gave me this wonderful gift in conjunction with Mooncake Festival last month.



It was a panda lantern made from ice cream sticks! How creative! Look! There's even a candle inside!



Thanks Merryn for this nice panda lantern. I love it! By the way, for those of you who are interested in all these arty hand crafts, do check out her Crafty Crafted site!

Last month, I also met up with blogger SK who is now well known for spamming comments on my blog and a number of other blogs too. Well, keep them coming SK - I love your spams! LOL!

The reason I met up with SK was to pass him his prize which he won from a contest in my blog and also to collect my prize which I won from his blog! Imagine that! Haha!

What did I win? A second-hand book called "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold.



OK, if you want to read what he wrote in that postcard, let me magnify it for you. Guess what? He addressed me as Panda Foong - that's nice! Haha!



Excuse me, SK but I did not win this book by accident! I won it by sheer hard work and sweat! I won it because I left the most number of comments on your blog post and you can't blame me if nobody was as hard working as me! Perhaps the second-hand book was not enticing enough for them. Next time, offer a brand new, expensive book as prize! Haha!!

I have been visiting Lina's blog for quite some time and the amazing thing about her is she goes to Japan for holidays every year! No kidding! Recently, she came back from her Japan holidays and surprised me with a nice souvenir!

While Lina went to Japan, another good blogger friend of mine went to London for her holidays. Wow! I have so many rich blogger friends! And I can only afford to go China, Bali and Cambodia. *sob*

Anyway, this blogger friend is none other than Mariuca! She had a contest in her blog asking her readers where she went for her holidays and I was among the first three who guessed correctly! Yay!!

And so this was what I won.



The packaging was so nice I was a little reluctant to open it. But opened it I did!



Now ain't that cute! A nice souvenir all the way from England! Although I would have preferred a panda bear, but how would you find a panda bear in England right? Haha!

This bear is so adorable, don't you think? Love it!!

That I finally learn the real meaning of Aloha!

He's such a gym addict he goes Fitness First daily!
He's also into travel, Starbucks and photography,
I sometimes wonder where he gets all his money!

There are times when I think TZ is a loony,
Coz he goes to gym and work out excessively,
If you don't already know, he's pro-Starbucks and anti-OldTown White Coffee,
But guess what, recently he dumped Starbucks for Bad Ass Coffee!

I have a blogger friend from USA called Heidi,
Who looks really good in her swimsuit bikini!
She dishes out health advice like it's so easy,
Believe it or not, reading her blog makes me feel oh, so healthy!

I got to know a blogger by the name of Ayie,
She tells me it's her nickname though it doesn't matter really,
She's currently in the middle of her pregnancy,
Good luck and thanks Ayie, for adding me on FB!

You all know SK whom I think is a little chubby,
I know I shouldn't say that so OK, I'm sorry!
He just went for a week or two binging at McD,
Now he's thinking of ways to trim his big, fat belly!

He's a fan of Doraemon, now don't you think he's silly?
OK SK, please don't be angry with me!
I'm just joking and trying to be funny,
Here's my advice to trim that belly - eat nothing but zucchini!

I love those random notes by Shingo T,
So much so that I even decide to copy,
Great! Now I can post random notes on my blog when I'm busy,
Or on those days when I'm just too lazy!

Recently, I met up with Witch at Mid Valley,
It's my first time meeting her so I was full of anxiety,
She's tall and pretty but she's no Angelina Jolie or Zhang Ziyi,
And guess what, we both own a Panasonic Lumix LX3!

We had a great meal at Chili's though I was not really hungry,
So probably I ended up being very chatty,
Nice meeting up with Witch as she's such a foodie,
Perhaps we shall meet up next time for a meal of pan mee?

I guess all of you know that yellow man who always follow you and me?
You know who I am talking about right, even if you don't subscribe to DIGI,
He reminds me of a blogger who works in that company,
Yes, that's Vialentino - no prizes for guessing correctly!

Some bloggers are just so damn funny,
Like Kenwooi who always make my day sunny!
Although sometimes I prefer my day to be cloudy,
And occasionally even rainy!

You see, the rain does not make me feel sad or lousy,
But it does make me feel more sleepy,
However, reading Kenwooi's blog would make me go all perky,
Don't you all think he's such a Kenny Sia wannabee?

Faisal seems to think that the sound of rain is sexy,
Gosh! I don't seem to get that - do you think he's being cheeky?
On second thoughts, I think he's probably horny!
Tell me what you all think, really!

Whether it's rainy, cloudy or sunny,
It's always much better than hazy.
Cos when the haze from our neighbour gets to me,
And believe me this happens almost yearly,
I feel like throwing myself into the deep blue sea!

I guess this post is getting too long already,
So I think it's time to stop being funny.
Besides, I don't know why Mozilla keeps crashing on me,
Maybe I should just switch over to IE.

Oh, by the way, I have yet to watch 2012 the movie,
Maybe I should watch it tomorrow at GSC,
Or should I instead watch it at TGV?
Some say it's a nice movie I just hope it's not too corny,
Especially when it's not endorsed by Oprah Winfrey!

Now if some of you think I've forgotten about you - don't be silly!
It's impossible to mention everyone, don't you agree?
Cos that would stretch this post so long it would reach all the way to Italy!
