All About Bathing

I am supposed to blog about my trip to Manukan Island today but I think I would blog about it in my next post if you don't mind.

Instead, I want to talk about bathing.

Yes, bathing.

I know of someone who goes into the bathroom to have his bath and comes out less than 5 minutes later. Now tell me, do you think he had a decent bath or not? I mean, is 5 minutes enough time to ensure you are clean?

To me, 5 minutes bathing is like "mandi kerbau". To those not familiar with this Malay term, it means not proper or ineffective bath or shower. It also means one who bathe with water only, without using soap.

I just cannot imagine how one can do a quickie in 5 minutes. And I am not talking about sex. Can you imagine he finishes his shower before I finish cooking my instant noodles?

How on earth he manages to clean his scalp, scrub the part behind his ears, in between each of his toes, his armpits and his private parts in under 5 minutes? Oh, you don't do any of those things? I see. Well, if anyone of you say it's possible to do all those in under 5 minutes, please make a YouTube recording of you bathing and show it to me! Haha!

My next issue with bathing is how often do you take your bath? Once a day? Twice a day? Or once a week?

I know of someone living in UK who bathes once a month. Can you believe it? I know the cold weather there does not make you sweat as much as here in Malaysia, and I'm not too keen to shower in the cold too, but once a month?

I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't want to be any where near that person!

My third issue regarding bathing is do you sing in the bathroom? Well, do you? I don't know why but some people become instant karaoke singers in the bathroom. I'm amazed they could remember every single lyrics of the song or songs they are singing. And they sing so loudly, I won't be surprised if the next door neighbours can hear them too!

It's OK if they sing like Kelly Clarkson or Adam Lambert, but no, they sound too much like William Hung to me!

Well, I am embarassed to say I like to sing in the bathroom too, but I don't sing so loudly to the extent that people come knocking on my bathroom door and ask me to shut the hell up! Maybe it's the acoustics in the bathroom - it sort of make your voice sound so much better, doesn't it? No joke, I thought I sounded so much better than David Cook at one time. In the bathroom, that is.

Or maybe it's nicer to sing in the nude? Hmmm....

By the way, do you use soap bar or liquid shower gel for your bath? I prefer shower gel mainly because it's more hygienic if you share with others. Secondly, I just feel that the bar is too clumsy to be used when your hand is wet.

And this is an advice especially for men. You don't want to be picking up that bar of soap on the floor in a public bathroom that is filled with other men. You know what I mean, don't you? No? Never mind! Just don't use the public bathroom!

Just two days ago, I was at Tesco in Damansara Mutiara and I saw this special offer. Buy a 1 litre Dove shower gel for RM19.90 and get a free 400ml Dove shower gel. Pretty good deal yes? So I quickly grabbed three bottles!

And I brought back three 400ml bottles (only one bottle in the picture, which is the one on the right) free!

If you don't want to miss this offer, quickly head over to Tesco now!

Oh, and since we are on the subject of bathing, if you really don't know the proper way to shower, read How To Take A Shower from wikiHow. Showering will never be the same again!

Have a happy weekend, everyone! : )

All I can say of those omitting to shower in the morning - use a deodorant, please and spare some of us from BO!

SK, yes it's a personal thing, but I really don't think you can clean yourself effectively in 5 mins! So how long you take for your bath, if you don't mind me asking. Hehe

lina, you like to sing in the shower too? Haha! What song? Zaini doesn't sing in the shower?

Using deodorant can really mask BO? Sometimes I think deodorant plus BO = stinks! LOL!

I think how long one takes isn't so important so long he/she is clean and don't reek of BO...body odour!

Then..there are those who spend so long in the shower...it's wonder they don't turn into prunes! :)

Wow so much Dove, your skin must me smooth as silk.

I bathe at least thrice a day, more on weekends especially now since the weather has been so hot and humid. Morning and before bed showers are a must. 5minutes is definitely a no-no. I think 15mins sld be the minimum, even when we are running late for something.

Well, it depends on the shower I guess. Some people don't wash their hair all the time they shower anyway. Some just soap their body, wash it off, wash their face and their out. that might take 5minutes. But if you're talking about hair washing and all, yes it doesn't take 5minutes.

I use shower gel. Dove Cucumber & Green Tea scent is my favorite now. I hate bar soaps because I don't like the idea that during the times of you not being in the shower, it is left to be exposed to bacteria or what not... >_<.

I definitely don't sing in the shower xD. RM19.90 is cheap! I got my for RM21.90 in Carrefour -__-".

    Have a great weekend, foongpc!

    Lol this is funny.

I think if you are having a shower you can do it in less than 5 minutes. I normally spend between 5-15 mins depending on how much time I have. Ok lets go through it. Starting from top to bottom.

I have no hair so I go to my face neck etc. That takes about 1-2 minutes. Another minute or so on your upper body and a minute or so on your private parts and then do your legs.

I suppose it is different for women. But men taking 5min or so showers doesnt really seem weird or anything...

If you rush you can probably clean yourself properly in 5mins!!

I make sure to bathe regularly or more if I feel like having another brisk shower. Scrubbing is a must and all other routines. In UK, bathe once a month okay wat. Must remember la, if during winter, weather is cold AND dry. If bath too often, skin will peel and become extremely dry and painful. Besides, imagine freezing yourself even when you bath in hot water!
I remember when in US during autumn, I was too used to bathing at least two times a day here so I continued doing that there. End up with dry, cracked skin and painful rashes so I cut it down to one 'quickie' a day!
When the weather is dry and cold, we don't sweat, much less have any body odour! Just remember to change your clothes lor.
~Foong who don't sing in the shower or bathe longer than 20 minutes because she has to mind a toddler who may have burnt down the house in the time she is in the shower~

foong speaks her mind, very long meh, my post? haha! I still don't agree on bathing once a month no matter how cold or dry. At least once a day or if really lazy, then once in 2 days should be the absolute minimum!

To avoid dry skin after bathing, apply skin moisturiser lah.

Haha! Your toddler burn down the house while you are showering? very funny! LOL!
